Atalanta

Atalanta will look to make it two wins in two league games when they welcome Scudetto winners AC Milan to Bergamo.

The hosts began their quest for a return to Serie A’s top six with a huge 2-0 win over Sampdoria during the opening weekend. The win was secured courtesy of goals from Rafael Toloi and summer signing Ademola Lookman.

The win ended a run of eleven games without a clean sheet for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side while it was also their first win in three Serie A games.

Their aim will now be to win this game and end a run of six league games without a win. Given that they have won just one of their last meetings with Milan, they will come into this tie as outsiders which doesn’t bode well for them, after winning none of the home league matches last term in which they weren’t favourites (D2, L1).

But with their new signings already settled in and the further acquisition of Brandon Soppy and Paulo Azzi, ‘Le Dea’ will fancy their chances of once again disrupting the establishment.

Possible Atalanta starting line-up

Juan Musso; Rafael Toloi, Caleb Okoli, Berat Djimsiti; Hans Hateboer, Marten De Roon, Teun Koopmeiners, Joakim Maehle; Luis Fernando Muriel, Mario Pasalic, Duván Zapata.

Injured: Ederson, Davide Zappacosta, Marco Carnesecchi, Merih Demiral

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

AC Milan

AC Milan began their title defence with a 4-2 win over Udinese in matchday one.

In an entertaining game at the San Siro, goals from Theo Hernandez, Ante Rebic, and Brahim Diaz spared the blushes of Stefano Pioli’s side after Udinese had taken the lead in the second minute of the game through Rodrigo Becao.

The win extended Milan’s winning run in the league to seven consecutive matches while it also was their 17th league game without a defeat with their last defeat in the league coming in a 2-1 loss to Spezia in January.

With the best 14 wins and just one loss away from home in the Serie A last season, Milan will come into this tie as the favourites. And given that they won their last visit here, they will fancy their chances of getting another win this time.

Possible AC Milan starting line-up

Mike Maignan, Davide Calabria, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Rade Krunic, Ismael Bennacer; Brahim Diaz, Rafael Leao, Alexis Saelemaekers; Ante Rebic.

Injured: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Doubtful: Sandro Tonali

Suspended: None
