Fiorentina putting in massive efforts to extend Spurs-linked Dusan Vlahovic’s contract

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.

The Serbian is one of the most talented young forwards in the game right now and the likes of Tottenham were mentioned as potential destinations during the summer transfer window.

The young forward scored 21 goals for the Italian club last season and he was being lined up as a potential replacement for Harry Kane. But the England international ended up staying at the London club and the Vlahovic move never materialised.

Club director Joe Barone has now revealed that the Italian outfit are making enormous efforts to tie the player down to a new long term contract. Vlahovic has a contract with Fiorentina until the summer of 2023 and all parties are currently involved in talks regarding the extension.

“It’s something that has been on the table for many months. We’re making enormous efforts,” the director told DAZN (via Football Italia).

Previously club president Rocco Commisso revealed that he was irritated by the prolonged discussions with the player’s entourage and it will be interesting to see if the two parties can come together and thrash out an agreement soon.

Vlahovic is clearly a prized asset for the club and they will not want to lose him anytime soon. The 21-year-old has already established himself as a reliable goal scorer and he has the potential to develop further.

The 21-year-old striker has started this season in blistering form as well and he has already scored six goals in eight games across all competitions.

Vlahovic has all the tools to succeed at a top club and if he continues to perform at this level, the Serie A outfit will struggle to hold on to him for the long run.
