Genoa 0-2 Inter: Lukaku on target as Inter seals three points

Romelu Lukaku-Inter Milan

Inter have picked up their second away win in Serie A after defeating Genoa.

Inter have defeated Genoa 2-0 in Serie A away fixture, with Romelu Lukaku once again rising to the occasion.

The visitors had their fair share of chances in the first half but were unable to provide the breakthrough. Arturo Vidal had his shot denied by Genoa keeper Perin and later, Lautaro Martinez fired his volley over the top of the net.

Romelu Lukaku broke the deadline sooner in the second half and he showed why he is central to Antonio Conte’s plans.

Marcelo Brozovic found Nico Barella in between the lines and the Italian midfielder laid off a pass to Lukaku, who buried the net with a fantastic left-footed effort.

Danilo D’Ambrosio scored the final goal as Genoa were hardly involved in the game. The 32-year-old netted a near-post header after Andrea Ranocchia flicked it in his way from a corner kick.

Lukaku has continued his scoring run after he recently netted a double in a match-saving performance against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.

The Belgian also scored in the derby despite Inter ending on the losing side and he is currently the joint top scorer of the league alongside Belotti and Caputo.

For Inter, the win would be a refreshing one and on top of that, they are happy to see Achraf Hakimi return to the action after recovering from the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Genoa look as they were still reeling of the defeat against Napoli weeks ago in Serie A.
