Inter Milan to sign Romelu Lukaku on a season-long loan from Chelsea

The Belgium striker is hoping to end the miserable stint with Chelsea and move back to Inter Milan in a loan deal. Romelu Lukaku is willing to take a pay cut to meet be in his former Serie A club. 

Inter Milan’s financial situation is not good, and they couldn’t match Lukaku’s wages or buy the frontman outright.

Although it is risky for Inter Milan, president Steven Zhang got involved in the negotiations and made things smooth for both clubs. 

Speaking to BBC, Lukaku left Chelsea in 2014 to join Everton, valued at £28m. in 2021 he returned to Chelsea on a five-year deal. In an interview, Lukaku apologized and said he wanted to move forward, and he was not happy with his role under Blues manager Thomas Tuchel after the manager had changed the system. Lukaku is hoping to return to Inter Milan soon.

In August 2021, Chelsea signed Lukaku from Inter Milan for £97.5m and his loan fee cost (£6.9m). 

Lukaku scored eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season. Chelsea finished third in the league for this season. While Inter Milan finished second in Serie A this season.
