Juventus

Juventus will look to make it two league wins in a row for the first time since late April when they welcome Empoli to Turin on Friday.

The hosts come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win over Torino in the Derby della Mole. The result ended a run of two consecutive losses to AC Milan and lowly Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League.

The win against Torino was their fourth of the season in the league (D4, L2) and took their points tally to 16 points after ten rounds of games.

And so the Serie A giants come into this round of games sitting in eighth place, six points behind Lazio in fourth place and a whopping ten points behind league leaders Napoli.

With the title race almost looking over them just two months into the season, they will be desperate to build momentum and pick up wins more regularly as they look to end a two-season wait for a Scudetto.

Every game is a must-win now for Allegri and next up are a tricky Empoli side who won here 1-0 in August 2021 in what was incidentally Allegri’s first Serie A home match of his second stint as Juventus boss.

Having won consecutive matches here and netting exactly three goals in each, Juve will come into this tie confident of a third home win in a row. The last time Juve scored 3+ goals in three consecutive home outings was way back in April 2021, but nine wins in ten head-to-heads will give them confidence and belief.

Possible Juventus starting line-up

Wojciech Szczesny; Danilo, Leonardo Bonucci, Bremer, Alex Sandro; Juan Cuadrado, Adrien Rabiot, Manuel Locatelli, Filip Kostic, Dusan Vlahovic, Arkadiusz Milik.

Injured: Angel Di Maria, Marley Ake, Paul Pogba, Mattia de Sciglio

Doubtful: None

Empoli

Empoli will look to continue their resurgence when they travel to Turin on Friday.

After starting the season without a league win in six rounds, the visitors have enjoyed some good results in recent outings. They come into this tie on the back of a 1-0 win over Monza.

The result was their second win in their last four outings and made it two games unbeaten for Paolo Zanetti’s men who held Torino to a 1-1 draw before their last outing.

And so, with two wins and five draws (L3) in their opening games, the visitors come into this tie sitting in tenth place, six points ahead of the relegation zone. They have improved considerably this season and will be targeting a top-half finish.

The visitors have the morale and confidence to get a result from this game, given that they are unbeaten in their last four away games. Although they may have only won twice on the road in Serie A this calendar year, encouragingly both victories have come in their last six such outings, with Empoli losing just one away league match this term (W1, D3, L1).

Possible Empoli starting line-up

Guglielmo Vicario; Petar Stojanovic, Koni De Winter, Sebastiano Luperto, Fabiano Parisi; Nicolas Haas, Filippo Bandinelii, Liam Henderson; Tommaso Baldanzi, Mattia Destro, Martin Striano.

Injured: Lorenzo Tonelli, Ardian Ismajli, Alberto Grassi, Daniel Akpa
