Lorenzo Insigne-Napoli

Napoli will continue their quest for the Serie A title when they welcome Fiorentina to Naples this Sunday.

Venue: Stadio Diego Armando Maradona (Naples)

Key Statistics

Napoli have won just two of their last six competitive outings at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

The hosts have conceded 23 goals this season. No side have conceded fewer goals in Serie A this season.

Lorenzo Insigne has scored and assisted in two of Napoli’s last four league wins, in addition to netting three goals across his last three H2Hs – despite failing to convert two penalties.

Fiorentina have lost just one of their last six away games in all competitions.

The visitors have won only once on the road when facing an opposition that currently sit 11th or better in the table (two draws and five losses).

Head to head

Napoli have won eight of the last 15 head-to-head meetings between both sides. Fiorentina have two wins in that period.

Napoli

Napoli did their chances of winning the Scudetto a world of good last time out as they beat European hopefuls, Atalanta, 3-1 away from home.

Goals from Lorenzo Insigne, Matteo Politano, and substitute Elif Elmas secured the win for Luciano Spalletti’s side.

The win took them one point behind league leaders AC Milan in the race for the title. They have just eight games to finish the job this season and will be confident of going the distance, as coach Luciano Spalletti claimed they are a “united” team that can give joy to the entire city following their win over Atalanta

However, the hosts must still improve their home form, as they have won just two of their last six competitive outings at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. That poor run includes a 5-2 defeat in the Coppa Italia against upcoming opponents Fiorentina.

But their record against Fiorentina will be a source of encouragement, given they have five victories across their last eight home league H2Hs.

Meanwhile, Di Lorenzo, Alex Meret and Andrea Petagna are all out of this tie due to injury problems while Victor Osimhen and Adam Ounas could be absent from this game as they also have fitness issues.

Andre Zambo Anguissa will be unavailable as he serves a one-match suspension for accumulating too many yellow cards.

Possible Napoli starting line-up

David Ospina, Alessandro Zanoli, Kalidou Koulibaly, Juan Jesus, Amir Rrahmani Mario Rui; Stanislav Lobotka, Fabian Ruiz, Matteo Politano, Piotr Zielinski, Lorenzo Insigne; Victor Osimhen.

Injured: Giovanni di Lorenzo, Alex Meret and Andrea Petagna

Doubtful: Victor Osimhen and Adam Ounas

Suspended: Andre Zambo Anguissa

Fiorentina

Fiorentina will look to make it five games unbeaten in the league when they travel to Naples this Sunday.

The Florence-based side travel to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona unbeaten in four games (W2, D2), and remain within touching distance of the top six.

They come into this game on the back of a 1-0 victory over Empoli last Sunday; a win that must have pleased coach Vincenzo Italiano, who had complained about his side’s performances in matches played immediately after seasonal breaks, with Fiorentina losing the previous two by an aggregate score of 7-0.

However, going into this weekend, the visitors have won only once on the road when facing an opposition that currently sit 11th or better on the table. They have won just one away game in their last five, while scoring just five times in that period.

They are targeting a top-six finish this season and come into this weekend sitting in eighth place, four points behind fifth-placed AS Roma. And so, they will be desperate to win this game to ensure that they stay close to the top six with eight goals left to play.

Meanwhile, Giacomo Bonaventura and Alvaro Odriozola are the only players missing through injuries while Lucas Torreira will be unavailable as he serves a suspension for accumulating too many yellow cards.

Possible Fiorentina starting line-up

Pietro Terracciano; Lorenzo Venuti, Igor Julio, Nikola Milenkovic, Cristiano Biraghi; Sofyan Amrabat, Gaetano Castrovilli, Youssef Maleh; Riccardo Saponara, Nicolas Gonzalez, Arthur Cabral.

Injured: Giacomo Bonaventura and Alvaro Odriozola

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Lucas Torreira

Napoli 2-1 Fiorentina
