Parma 1-3 AC Milan: Rebic, Kessie, Leao score to secure 3-points despite Zlatan’s red

Zlatan Ibrahimovic-AC Milan

AC Milan picked up a 3-1 win over Parma in the Italian league earlier tonight.

The visitors came into this game needing a win so that they can pull further clear of Juventus in the league table.

The win tonight leaves Milan on 63 points in second place and they are now four points clear of the defending champions.

AC Milan took the lead on the 8th minute through Ante Rebic and then scored the second goal through Franck Kessie on the stroke of half-time.

The home side had to deal with the red card of Zlatan Ibrahimovic but they did well to fight back and grind out all three points in the end. They were quick and direct with their passing in the first half and Parma struggled to cope with them.

Ibrahimovic was sent off for dissent just before the hour mark and Milan will be disappointed with the decision to award a straight red card.

Riccardo Gagliolo scored the only goal of the game for Parma but any chance of a comeback was wiped clean by Rafael Leao, who scored the third goal of the game for Milan.

Parma enjoyed more possession throughout the game but they will be disappointed with their use of the ball. Despite having 59% of the ball, both sides had five shots on target.

Milan came into this game on the back of just two wins in four league games and they needed to win tonight in order to stay in second place and put some sort of pressure on runaway leaders Inter Milan.

Stefano Pioli’s men closed the gap to Inter Milan to eight points and Parma remain 19th in the standings after today’s defeat. Parma have just one win in their last six league games and they will have to improve considerably if they want to beat the drop.

The last time these two sides met, Milan were held to a 2-2 draw and the fans will be delighted to see that the players battled their way through adversity to secure all three points tonight.
