Leipzig 2-0 Basaksehir: Angelino double secures three points for Leipzig

Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig share points after 1-1 draw

Leipzig are off to a flying start in the Champions League

Leipzig have kickstarted their Champions League by defeating Istanbul Basaksehir, with Angelino scoring both the goals.

The hosts showed their intentions from the very beginning as Dayot Upamecano’s header from a set-piece forced Mert Gunok to a stunning save.

Leipzig’s free-flowing attack soon led to their first goal in the 15th minute. Kevin Kampl’s long ball found the on-rushing Angelino, who then fired his shot to the nets. The goal was a perfect example of the third man run.

Angelino completed his brace in little less than five minutes after an assist from Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku.

The second half saw neither of the teams score goals although Nkunku had his shot denied by the goalkeeper Gunok.

Speaking about Angelino’s form, the Spaniard has already scored two goals in four Bundesliga games thus far, and he is proving to be one of the league’s best offensive wing-back. He is currently on loan from Manchester City.

Elsewhere, the Turkish club hardly had their moments in their first-ever Champions League season, having won the Super Lig title last season.

Julian Nagelsmann’s biggest test will be against PSG and Manchester United in the upcoming group stage games, with the former one was their semi-final opponents in the Champions League last season.

Leipzig are still undefeated in the Bundesliga this season, topping the table at the moment.
