Zidane: Gareth Bale did not want to play against Man City

Zidane Gareth Bale did not want to play against Man City

Gareth Bale has been left out of the side to face Manchester City and Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that the player did not want to play for the club.

The Welshman is currently on a collision course with the club hierarchy and he has been frozen out of the side.

It is understood that Bale has fallen out of favour with Zidane and the Frenchman’s mistreatment has infuriated the player. Bale has now decided to wait out his contract at Santiago Bernabeu regardless of whether he gets to play.

Bale is on massive wages and his stance will surely hurt Real Madrid financially.

It will be interesting to see if Zidane and Bale can sort out their differences next year. The Welsh winger is a world-class player and Real Madrid are a far better side with him.

Los Blancos should look to find a middle ground and bring him back into the first-team fold next season.

If they want to win the Champions League, they will need players like Gareth Bale. He was crucial to two Champions League wins for the Spanish club.

Even though he is 31, he still has a lot to offer at the highest level.

Speaking to the media about his omission, Zidane revealed: “I will explain because many things are said. We have a relationship of respect between player and coach, which is clear. The only thing I can say is that he has decided not to play, and the rest is between him and me.”

“I have already answered before about the situation. The rest is a conversation between the player and the coach, and I am not going to tell you anything,” Zidane added.

“Gareth Bale is a Real Madrid player, nothing changes. I respect that. He has decided not to play. All of us here are focused on tomorrow’s game.”
