Copa America 2021 has had its group stage ended today, and the stage is set for the quarter-finals.

ArgentinaUruguay, Paraguay and Chile have made it to the last eight from Group A alongside Brazil, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador from Group B.

Peru vs Paraguay

Peru and Paraguay are set for a crunch quarter-final, with both teams winning 2 games each in the group stage. Paraguay started their campaign with a bang after ousting Bolivia but suffered a setback against Argentina. However, their confidence would have skyrocketed after an emphatic win against Chile, although they lost to Uruguay in their final game. Peru suffered a big defeat in their opening game against Brazil but managed to pull back well.

Brazil vs Chile

Host nations Brazil might have drawn a tricky opponent in Chile; nonetheless, they are still being deemed as the favourites. The Brazilians enjoyed a clinical run in the group stage, with Neymar Jr leading from the front. Chile haven’t been at their best with only one win, and their dip in form could be good news for Brazil.

Uruguay vs Colombia

Uruguay’s chances of reaching the last eight had been up in the air after they were winless in their first two games. However, veterans Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani came to the rescue, helping Uruguayans make a com-back. Colombia are still a tricky opponent, although their form in the group stage – 1 W 1D 2L – leaves a lot to be desired.

Argentina vs Ecuador

Argentina have drawn a relatively easier opponent in Ecuador for the last eight thanks to their imperious form in the group stage. Lionel Messi’s current form presents a big problem for Ecuadorians, who managed to qualify for the quarter-finals after their draw against Brazil.
