France boss Didier Deschamps has insisted that Kylian Mbappe is not getting distracted by ongoing talk about his future.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation, and is attracting attention from top clubs across the continent after following a successful season in Paris Saint-Germain. The France international scored 42 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season and is thought to be considering a new club this summer, with his contract at the Parc des Princes set to expire in 2022.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his future, France boss Deschamps believes that the player’s focus remains on his national team commitment at the European Championship.

Speaking to pressmen, Deschamps revealed that he is confident that rumours about Mbappe’s future would not affect his performance at the European Championship, insisting that the player is in “peace’ and is ‘focused on the France team.’

“It’s part of the game,” Deschamps said when asked about the speculations.

“What is going on outside? Kylian has been clear on that; he is there, he knows why he is there. He is with the France team.

“He will have a decision to take; he will take it when he sees fit. At the moment, he is still under contract with Paris Saint-Germain and is supposed to be there next year.

“On what can happen, I do not know. He is totally in control, but in any case, he is in peace and serenity with us. He is focused on the France team.”

Real Madrid are the front-runners for Mbappe’s signature, while a move to the Premier League has also been touted. Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, for whom Mbappe has previously shown his admiration, are considered the likeliest destination for the World Cup winner if he decides to move to the Premier League.

However, PSG are reluctant in selling the star player and are hoping to tie him down to a new lucrative deal that will make him one of the highest-paid players in the world.
