Odegaard, Mayoral, not Rodrygo handed Real Madrid first-team numbers

Real Madrid News: Martin Odegaard and Borja Mayoral handed first-team numbers, Lunin and Rodrygo to play for Castilla.

Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid Manager, to figure out the extraordinary situation involving Gareth Bale

Real Madrid stars Martin Odegaard and Borja Mayoral have been handed their shirt numbers for the first team.

Odegaard will wear Jersey no 21, which was Brahim Diaz’s number last season. Diaz has joined AC Milan on loan.

Mayoral will be wearing James Rodriguez’s number 16 for the new season.

Odegaard has been called to the Los Blancos first-team by Zinedine Zidane after a spectacular season with Real Sociedad on loan. However, the Norwegian was dropped out of Zidane’s squad in the pre-season friendly against Getafe.

Mayoral has returned to Bernabeu after two-year loan spells with Levante. The 23-year-old is considered as the back-up to Karim Benzema as both Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz are out injured. The Spanish U-21 star had been previously linked with a move to Serie A club Lazio.

As of now, Rodrygo and Andriy Lunin have been registered with Castilla while the former one could be considered to the first-team because of Gareth Bale’s imminent departure.

Marco Asensio would inherit the Welshman’s shirt number while the Spaniard’s Shirt No 20 could be handed to Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr. Rodrygo and Andriy Lunin will wear No 25 and 13 respectively.

Rodrygo had a great start to the last season before he was restored to the reserves. Lunin could also be promoted to the first-team after Alphonse Areola’s departure.

Los Blancos will begin their title defence in La Liga this season against Real Sociedad.
