England manager Gareth Southgate has revealed the reason behind the lack of playing time for Jadon Sancho.

The Borussia Dortmund star is coming off an impressive season in the Bundesliga, where he racked up goals and assists in numbers.

However, he finds himself down the pecking order of Three Lions boss, and he is yet to play a single minute in Euro 2020.

Southgate has said that he has plenty of attacking options at his disposal, yet all are naive to a big competition like Euros.

Southgate said: “We’ve got some explosive options, and a lot of them are young players and experiencing a big tournament for the first time.

“So, as a coaching staff, we are realistic about our expectations of them as individuals.

Not only Sancho, but Jack Grealish is also getting minutes as a substitute regardless of his impressive form at Aston Villa.

England are off to a rocky start in the European Championship, managing a narrow win against Croatia followed by a disappointing draw against Scotland, which has led to criticism from fans.

Harry Kane’s form is also a concern as he looks a shadow of his former self, and he has endured back-to-back lacklustre performances.

Sancho would definitely get the nod from Southgate at one point, but sooner will be better for England.

Three Lions, who are second in Group D, will play the Czech Republic in their final group stage fixture.
