Paul Pogba has been impressive for France in Euro 2020 so far.

Andros Townsend has heaped praises on Paul Pogba for his contribution to France in Euro 2020, calling him the best player of the tournament so far.

The Manchester United midfielder has hardly put a foot in the European Championship so far. He was also at his usual best last night against Portugal, where he set up Karim Benzema’s goal with an excellent through ball.

Pogba’s display has left Crystal Palace star Townsend in awe, and he also added that the Frenchman deserves more respect in the Premier League.

“For me, having watched the group stages, he’s the player of the tournament,” said Townsend.

“Some of his passes and touches… his pass to Mbappe was one of the best I’ve ever seen. The back-four is compact, but somehow he squeezes the ball around to Mbappe.

When he plays for United, he’s not far behind that, but in England, we don’t appreciate Pogba. We appreciate those that kick hard and run for 90 minutes, and that’s not Pogba.

We don’t respect him enough in this country.”

Pogba has been scrutinised for not having a similar impact at the club level over the last two seasons.

However, French manager Didier Deschamps came in defence of the 27-year-old, whom he cites as a key cog in the midfield.

The former Juventus star kicked off the Euros on a bang, putting in a stellar display against Germany.

Now, with Les Bleus progressing to the next round where they will face Switzerland, Deschamps would be hoping for Pogba to step up once again.
