England have named their 33-man provisional squad for Euro 2020.

England manager Gareth Southgate has recalled Liverpool defender Trent Alexander -Arnold for Euro 2020 next month.

There have been doubts regarding Alexander Arnold’s participation after he was left out in the previous call-ups due to the lack of form. However, the young English right-back has managed to make the cut in the 33-man provisional squad.

However, the wait goes on for Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford, who appears to haven’t convinced Southgate yet despite his impressive form in the recently-concluded Premier League season – garnering 17 goals and 7 assists.

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison also misses out after an injury-ravaged season. Although he looks to have recovered his fitness after getting starts in recent weeks, Southgate has opted to leave the Foxes midfielder behind.

As far as defence is concerned, Harry Maguire and John Stones are expected to lead the backline, with the latter reviving his form at Manchester City this season.

The real surprise is that Man Utd’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been snubbed by Southgate while Everton’s Ben Godfrey has got the nod.

Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, who has been outstanding in Bundesliga and the Champions League, is likely to give a fierce competition for the likes of Jesse Lingard, Jordan Henderson for a place in the starting eleven.

Harry Kane is expected to lead the line while Southgate has the luxury to choose from a plethora of options in the attack – Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford.

Dean Henderson and Jordan Pickford would battle out to be the first-choice goalkeeper, while Burnley’s Nick Pope has been left out. Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale have also been included in the squad.

Here is England’s 33-man provisional squad for Euro 2020.
