FIFA approves Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala’s move to Germany

Jamal Musiala-Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich teenage star Jamaal Musiala is now eligible to play international matches for Germany instead of England as the World governing body of football; FIFA have given their approval in this regard.

The 18-year-old had earlier wished to play for Germany in future, which FIFA have now officially approved.

Jamal Musiala is currently playing for Bayern Munich and has already played for 28 matches, scoring four goals.

Musiala could earn an invitation to train with Die Mannschaft ahead of the upcoming international break if Germany head coach Joachim Low nominates Musiala for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers at the end of March. After the current season, UEFA Euro 2020 starts on June 11 this year. Musiala could potentially spend time with that group before making his first-team breakthrough.

It will be interesting to see if Musiala earns a spot in the Garmany senior-team. Otherwise, he has to be with the U-21 team. But he will not be eligible to play for Germany’s U-21 side in the U-21 European Championships this time. Germany U21 head coach Stefan Kuntz cannot use him for the upcoming European U21 Championship, as the attacking midfielder played for the Three Lions in qualifying.

The Bayern starlet was born in Stuttgart, Germany, but moved to England at the age of seven. During his tenure in England, he has played for Southampton’s and Chelsea’s youth teams. Before that, he had played for both Germany and England at the U16 level.
