The Turkish national team have named the Germany under-21 manager Stefan Kuntz as their new coach.

The TFF decided to part ways with Senol Gunes through mutual consent at the weekend and they will begin a new journey under Kuntz now.

Turkey had a disappointing campaign during the European Championships and it is the right time for a change especially with the World Cup looming large next year.

The German FA have confirmed that counts will be released from his contract as the coach of the under-21 national team.

The 58-year-old manager has played in Turkey before with Besiktas and he will be looking to make an immediate impact with his side in the World Cup qualifiers.

Turkey were recently beaten by Netherlands 6-1 at the Amsterdam Arena in the qualifiers and they are now third in the standings behind the Dutch and Norway.

There is no doubt that they will have to improve a lot in order to book their place in the World Cup next winter and it will be interesting to see if the arrival of the German manager can turn their form around.

Turkey have a highly talented squad at their disposal with top-class young talents like Caglar Soyuncu, Merih Demiral, Ozan Kabak, Ugurcan Cakir and Zeki Celik.

They have experienced internationals like Hakan Calhanoglu, Burak Yilmaz and Ozan Tufan as well.

Turkey have the bones of a quality squad and it will be interesting to see how they develop over the next few months.
