La Albiceleste comfortably won their World Cup qualifying game against Venezuela.

Argentina defeated Venezuela 3-1 in their World Cup qualifiers and now they currently sit second behind Brazil in the table.

It was the first game after a successful Copa America campaign but Argentina showed no signs of rustiness as they completely dominated the game.

Inter Milan duo Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa were impressive after finding the nets.

Martinez was the one to provide the breakthrough against the 10-man Venezuela side when he slotted the ball into the nets after a sublime through ball from Giovani Lo Celso.

Correa doubled the lead in the 71st minute as a result of a superb interplay between Lionel Messi and Martinez.

The 26-year-old scored a stunning double in his debut for Inter last weekend and now he has brought a similar impact to the national team.

Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa netted Argentina’s third goal of the night after coming in as a substitute.

Correa has also had a terrific start to this season, racking up 3 goals and an assist in 3 La Liga games so far.

Venezuela managed to pull one back in injury time but Argentine manager Lionel Scaloni must be happy with the overall performance.

Skipper Lionel Messi might have failed to find the nets but the PSG star influenced the game in every possible way.

The win means that La Albiceleste are undefeated in their last 21 games and it remains to be seen whether they can maintain their streak when they face Brazil on Sunday.
