Portugal announce their squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers

Cristiano Ronaldo pokes fun at Bruno Fernandes

Fernando Santos has named his Portugal squad for this month World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan, Serbia and Luxembourg.

The manager surprised everyone with his decision to call upon Rui Patricio despite the Wolves goalkeeper suffering a serious head injury against Liverpool earlier this month. It remains to be seen whether he is fit enough to play for his country in the coming weeks.

In-form striker Andre Silva and Arsenal defender Cedric Soares have been recalled into the squad after a while.

The likes of Nuno Mendes and Joao Palhinha have also been called up for the first time into the Portuguese squad.
