Lustica’s late goal makes the difference as Western United collect three points

Western United have edged out Perth Glory 5-4 in a pulsating A-League contest, with Lustica’s late goal making the difference.

The home side were on the driver seat early on after Victor Sanchez netted a brilliant strike while Lustica played a dummy in the process

However, Glory started the second half on the front foot and in no time they led the scoreline 2-1. Armiento scored the equaliser while Bruno Fornaroli followed up with a stunning back-heel goal.

Not long after, United responded with back to back goals, both coming from super-sub Dylan Pierias. The 20-year-old made an instant impact when he was brought onto the field.

It was a game of cat and mouse as Nicolas D’Agostino put Glory on level terms through 

a headed before Japanese international Tomoki Imai put United on the front again. The home side couldn’t hold onto the lead as they conceded to make it 4-4 minutes later.

The open-ended game culminated in Steven Lustica grabbing the winner for Mark Rudan’s side in the 84th minute, thus stopping Glory’s fighting spirit in the second half.

Western United have picked up their first win of the season after a thrilling win and are now seventh in the table.

Perth Glory, who started their season on a high note after defeating Adelaide United 5-3, have slipped up in their second game.
