Mumbai 2-1 Chennaiyin: le Fondre winner put Mumbai FC at the top

Adam le Fondre-Mumbai Ciry FC

Mumbai City FC picked up a 2-1 win over Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League earlier tonight.

Chennaiyin FC scored the opening goal of the game on the 40th minute through Jakub Sylvestr.

League leaders Mumbai FC came back into the game soon after when Hernan Santana headed in from close range at the stroke of half time.

Both teams started the second half at frantic pace and Mumbai City took the lead through star striker Adam Le Fondre who headed in from a corner.

Chennaiyin FC had their chances to go on level terms but Mourtada Fall produced an outstanding defensive display to earn all three points for Mumbai City.

Mumbai managed to hold onto the advantage and grind out all three points in the end.

Chennaiyin FC will be disappointed to have crashed to a defeat despite taking the lead and having plenty of chances to add to their tally.

Mumbai City have been in red hot form since losing their first match against NorthEast United and they will be hoping to build on this and put together a winning run now.

Meanwhile, two times Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC have been quite inconsistent and they have just four points from four matches so far.

They will have to improve a lot if they want to do well in the Indian Super League this year and it will be interesting to see if their players can step up and deliver in the next game.

Mumbai City FC are on top of the Indian Super League table right now with 12 points from five matches and they will be hoping to extend their lead further in the coming weeks.
