Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they welcome Wolfsburg to Borrusia-Park this weekend.

The hosts were dismantled by Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 23, as Marco Reus and Co. hit the Foals for six.

The chastening loss leaves Adi Hütter’s side sitting 13th in the table, one place below their visitors. They come into this round with just three points separating them and the promotion/relegation playoff place.

As such, they are looking over their shoulders and will be desperate to avoid getting fully entrenched in the relegation battle.

Before losing to Dortmund. The Foals picked up four points from a possible six before that Dortmund, and victory over the Wolves would temporarily ease concerns of the drop.

However, Hütter will be without his captain Lars Stindl for this tie, while teenage duo Luca Netz and Joe Scally are itching for returns to the starting lineup if Hütter changes his defence in the wake of last Sunday’s defeat.

Possible Borussia Monchengladbach starting line-up

Yannick Sommer; Matthias Ginter, Nico Elvedi, Marvin Friedrich; Stefan Lainer, Jonas Hoffman, Christoph Kramer, Kouadio Kone, Ramy Bensebaini; Florian Neuhaus; Breel Embolo.

Injured: Mamadou Doucoure, Lars Stindl

Doubtful: None

VfL Wolfsburg

Like their hosts, Wolfsburg will also look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Florian Kohfeldt’s improving team were beaten 2-1 at home by Hoffenheim last time out, ending a run of two consecutive wins. Despite leading at halftime through Jonas Wind’s goal, the Wolves could not keep their shape in the second half as they allowed their visitors to take home maximum points courtesy of goals from Jacob Brunn and Andrej Kramaric.

They come into this round of games sitting in 12th place with 27 points from 23 games. Their current point tally is one of their worst over the last decade and should motivate them to seek a better end to their season.

After ending a run of four consecutive Bundesliga away defeats when they defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 earlier this month, they will now hope to make it two wins in two away games.

But Florian Kohfeldt will have to do without the services of Paulo Otavio (knee), Mickey van de Ven (thigh), and William (knee). Meanwhile, Lukas Nmecha is a race against time to be fit for this game after sustaining an ankle injury.

Possible Wolfsburg starting line-up

Koen Casteels; Sebastiaan Bornauw, Maxence Lacroix, John Brooks; Ridle Baku, Maximilian Arnold, Aster Vranckx, Jerome Roussillon; Maximilian Philipp, Jonas Wind; Max Kruse.

Injured: Paulo Otavio, Mickey van de Ven, and William.

Doubtful: Lukas Nmecha

Suspended: None
