Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes.

According to a statement on the club’s official website, the 18-year-old midfielder has signed a six-year contract with the La Liga giants.

Apparently, Real Madrid are paying a fee of around €31 million for the player.

The youngster had just one year left on his current deal and it is a wise move from Rennes to cash in on him this summer instead of losing him on a free transfer next year.

Camavinga is rated as one of the most exciting young talents across Europe right now and he has the potential to develop into a world-class footballer.

Real Madrid needed to add more depth to their central midfield especially with the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in their twilight years.

The Frenchman could sort out Real Madrid’s midfield for the foreseeable future if he manages to adapt to the Spanish league.

The 18-year-old has already showcased his prodigious talent in the French league and he will be hoping to make his mark in Spain now.

Working with world-class midfielders like Kroos and Modric will certainly accelerate his development and a top-class coach like Carlo Ancelotti should be able to bring out the best in him.

It remains to be seen whether the youngster can force his way into the starting lineup in the coming weeks.

A player of his calibre will want to play regularly but he will have to compete with several world-class players in order to establish himself as a starter at the Spanish club.
