Manchester City are thought to be interested in signing the Barcelona right back Sergi Roberto.
The Spaniard has been a reliable player for the Spanish giants and Guardiola wants him to strengthen the right side of City’s defence.
The likes of Walker and Cancelo haven’t been at their best this season and it will be interesting to see who gets replaced at the end of the season.
City won’t want to have three right backs on their books next season.
Cancelo seems like the one who could be sacrificed. He has not managed to adapt to English football properly so far.
The full back positions have been a problem for City ever since Pep came into the club. He has spent a lot of money on his right back and left back positions.
It will be interesting to see if Roberto can be the solution to his problems.
That said, City will have to agree on a deal with Barcelona first. The Catalan giants have no reason to sell the Spaniard this summer and City might have to pay over the odds to convince them.
The Premier League side have no shortage of resources but they are under pressure from FFP.
They have already been banned from the Champions League and they cannot afford to take further risks financially.
This will be a crucial summer for Manchester city and they will have to spend wisely.
Roberto seems like a good signing on paper but it will be tough to get the deal done.
