Messi back to the top in the scoring charts
Lionel Messi has moved ahead of Luis Suarez with 18 goals to the top of the La Liga scoring charts after he netted a brace in Barcelona‘s 3-0 win over Elche.
The Argentine opened the scoring in the opening minutes of the second half after combining with Martin Braithwaite and later he completed his double, with Frenkie de Jong setting up the goal.
It turns out to be a productive year for the 33-year-old although there was a dip in his performance at the start of this season.
Iniesta hopeful of a bright future for teenager Pedri
Barca legend Andres Iniesta has spoken highly of prodigious midfielder Pedri, who has taken La Liga by storm in his debut season at the Nou Camp.
Iniesta believes that Pedri has great potential to become a key player for Barca in the long run.
The Spanish World Cup winner said, “It is clear that Pedri has a lot of potential. I believe that he is in an ideal place to continue developing, to continue expanding his ability. I wish him the best and the important thing is that he is calm, that people also leave him alone, because he is young and has everything ahead of him.
“I am sure that if he does things the way he is doing them that he will continue to shine. I think the difference is that he is when he goes out on the pitch, he enjoys the ball and he doesn’t look like he’s 18! Therefore, the important thing is that he continues to grow, because he sure has a great future at Barça.”
Alexander Isak on the radar of the Catalans
Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak has been reportedly monitored by Barca ahead of a potential summer move.
The Blaugrana are yet to find a proper replacement for Luis Suarez, who left the club last summer to join fellow rivals Atletico Madrid.
Barca have been pondering over the options for a new number 9 and are said to have impressed with Isak’s development with La Real.
The Swedish youngster, who is said to have a release clause worth €70m, has netted 12 goals in 20 appearances in La Liga this season.
