Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Brighton and Hove Albion for the transfer of Ben White.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to the London club for weeks now, and the Gunners will be delighted to have finally secured the deal.

Arsenal needed to improve their defensive options this summer, and the signing of Ben White could prove to be a quality long term acquisition.

The Brighton defender is highly rated in the Premier League, and he could develop into a top-class player for the Londoners in future.

The player is now expected to undergo a medical with the Premier League giants, and Arsenal will pay a fee in the region of £50 million.

The 23-year-old defender was a primary target for Mikel Arteta this summer, and his arrival will represent a record outlay by Arsenal for a defender.

The player was linked with a move to Leeds United last summer, but Brighton turned down multiple bids from the Whites.

Ben White is now expected to partner Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of Arsenal’s defence next season.

The Gunners have added more depth to their defence with the signing of Nuno Tavares as well, and it will be interesting to see if they can add some depth to the right-back position as well.

The defence was a major concern for the Gunners last year, and Arteta will hope that his defensive reinforcements can help the side get back into the Champions League
