Watzke rules out Haaland exit
Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has now confirmed that Norwegian striker Erling Haaland will continue at the German club next season.
The 20-year-old striker is under contract with the German club until the summer of 2024.
However, he could be on the move at the end of the next season when his release clause kicks in.
Apparently, the Norwegian has a release clause of around 100 million, which could be activated in the summer of 2022.
The striker has been heavily linked with a move away from Dortmund this summer, but the German club are not interested in negotiating his departure.
“I have the clear expectation that Erling Haaland will play for us next year,” Watzke said. “And I don’t waste any thoughts on anything else.”
When asked whether a phone call from Barcelona or Real Madrid could change the situation, he added: “I think they know about the contract situation and our stance there as well.
“I am just totally relaxed. Nobody believed us with Jadon Sancho last summer until deadline day, and he’s still with us today.”
Sacho pushing for Manchester United move
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is now pushing his agent to secure a transfer to Manchester United in the summer.
The Red Devils failed to sign him at the start of the season, and the winger is hoping to return to the Premier League in the coming months.
The German club are thought to be willing to sell the 21-year-old winger this summer, who has 16 goals and 18 assists to his name this season.
Jadon Sancho was valued at around £108 million last summer, but the asking price is likely to be lower this summer.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can agree on a fee with the German outfit in the coming weeks.
There is no doubt that the Red Devils need to improve the right-hand side of their attack, and Sancho would be a world-class addition.
