Juventus set to extend Alvaro Morata loan deal for one more season

Alvaro Morata-Juventus

Juventus will extend the Loan deal of Alvaro Morata by one year, according to a report in Goal.

The Atletico Madrid striker who spent last season on loan to Juventus will continue for at least another year with the Italian side, which are set to pay €10 million for his services.

The 28-year-old is seen as a good option upfront by the returning Massimiliano Allegri, who was important in getting the deal over the line.

The Spanish striker had previously worked with Allegri during his first spell at the club and was a good fit in the Italian’s system. With Allegri back, Morata is keen to remain in Italy and has approved the loan extension.

Morata had a good return in front of a goal last season with Juventus as he scored 20 goals in 44 outings to help the Old Lady to a top-four finish and a Coppa Italia win.

The financial challenges facing Juventus meant that the club tried to secure a discount on the £8.5million loan fee for the striker, but Atletico Madrid rejected that move, insisting on full payment as earlier agreed.

The Spanish giants are also struggling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and are unwilling to take less than the fee Juventus paid last season this time.
