Chelsea could continue with Kepa this season

Chelsea are willing to give Kepa another chance next season.

The 25 year old Spaniard has been linked with a move away from the Blues this summer but it seems that Frank Lampard is ready to do a U-turn on his plans.

Kepa made several costly errors last season and Chelsea were expected to upgrade on him this summer.

Now it seems that Chelsea are willing to promote Nathan Baxter as the third choice keeper and Lampard hopes that the 21 year old keeper can eventually become the clubs starting shot stopper.

Chelsea have been linked with several goalkeepers this summer including the likes of Jan Oblak, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Edouard Mendy, Dean Henderson and Andre Onana.

It will be interesting to see if get back and sort out his errors next season and justify his transfer fee.

Chelsea paid £71 million for the goalkeeper in 2018.

Baxter was on loan at Ross County in the Scottish Premiership last season and he managed to keep 3 clean sheets in his 14 games. He also helped his side finish 10th in the League.

The youngster could be a key part of Chelsea’s Cup squad and it will be interesting to see if he can impress in those games and force his way into Lampard’s first team plans for the Premier League squad.

Caballero is set to remain as the club’s second choice keeper for now. It remains to be seen if the Blues manage to bring another keeper in before the transfer window shuts.
