Arsenal planning to sign the Chelsea winger Willian this summer

Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Willian on a free transfer this summer.

As per reports, the player has agreed a three year deal with the Gunners worth around £100,000-a-week.

The 31-year-old has been in good form for the Blues this season and he should prove to be a quality addition to Arteta’s attack as well. Despite his age, Willian still has a lot to offer at this level.

He will add goals, flair and creativity to the team. His winning experience will be vital to Arsenal’s development as a squad as well.

The player would have stayed at Chelsea but the Blues were unwilling to offer him a three year deal. Chelsea were prepared to offer a two year extension but the Brazilian wanted a longer contract.

Willian’s potential signing comes at a time when Arsenal have announced 55 job cuts in order to cope with the revenue loss due to the current health crisis.

Arsenal’s decision has attracted severe criticism from the footballing community. Earlier this year, the players decided to take a paycut so that everyone working for the club could retain their jobs. Majority of the players agreed to a 12.5 per cent pay cut in April.

It seems that the club made such assurances to the players back then in order to get them to reduce their wages. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds now.

The current squad of players are thought to be unhappy with the move from the Londoners.
