Bayern Munich will continue their title defence in Bundesliga this weekend, when they welcome RB Leipzig to Allianz Arena.

Venue: Allianz Arena (Munich)

Key Statistics

Bayern Munich have won 16 of their 20 Bundesliga games this season and have only twice had more wins at this stage: in 2015/16 (17 wins) and 2013/14 (18), both times under Pep Guardiola.

Robert Lewandowski has scored eight times in 12 meetings with Leipzig.

No club has scored more than Bayern’s 65 goals after 20 games of the season, eclipsing the previous record of 58.

In all competitions, they have scored 102 goals under former Leipzig coach Nagelsmann, averaging 3.5 goals per game.

RB Leipzig‘s Christopher Nkunku has registered nine goals and seven assists this season.

The visitors are the only club to have won all four games they have played in 2022.

Their recent win over Wolfsburg was their 100th in the Bundesliga, in their 190th game – only Bayern were quicker to 100 goals (185 games).

Die Roten Bullen were the last team in 67 Bundesliga matches to stop Bayern from scoring, when Nagelsmann was in charge, on 9 February 2020.

Head to head

In 13 head-to-head encounters between the two sides, Bayern Munich have won eight games, lost one and drawn four.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich will look to continue their dominance of the Bundesliga when they welcome RB Leipzig to Allianz Arena this Saturday.

The hosts are sitting top of the league table with 49 points after 20 rounds of games (W16, D1, L3). They are currently six points above the rest of the league and can keep their distance at the top if they win this game.

They come into this tie on the back of a 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin in their last game. Goals from Corentin Tolisso, Thomas Müller, Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry did the damage in Berlin.

The win was the fourth time Julian Nagelsmann’s side have scored four or more goals in a game in their last five outings. The German manager will fancy his side’s chances of scoring a couple against his former side.

Possible Bayern Munich starting line-ups

Manuel Neuer, Benjamin Pavard, Niklas Sule, Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez, Joshua Kimmich, Corentin Tolisso, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, Robert Lewandowski.

Injured: Leon Goretzka, Alphonso Davies

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Not available: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Bouna Sarr

RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig travel to Munich on the back of a four-game-winning run.

The visitors beat Wolfsburg 2-0 in their last game, courtesy of late goals from Willi Orban and Joško Gvardiol.

The result means that they have kept three clean sheets in a row ahead of this game.

After a difficult spell under Jesse Marsch, Die Roten Bullen seem to be finding their groove under Domenico Tedesco. The former Spartak Moscow boss has overseen a strong start to his tenure so far, winning five of his seven games in charge in all competitions.

His side have scored 10 goals in their last four games in all competitions and have progressed to the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup while they have also climbed to sixth in the Bundesliga standings.

They are currently three points behind the top four and will be desperate to win this game to move them into the top four places.

However, their record against Bayern Munich is woeful, as they have failed to beat the champions in each of their last eight meetings. They can at least take confidence in the fact that they have earned back-to-back draws at the Allianz Arena on their last two visits.

Possible RB Leipzig starting line-ups

Peter Gulacsi, Nordi Mukiele, Willi Orban, Josko Gvardiol, Lukas Klostermann, Konrad Laimer, Kevin Kampl, Benjamin Henrichs, Dominik Szoboszlai, Christopher Nkunku, Andre Silva.

Injured: Marcel Halstenberg

Doubtful: Mohamed Simakan

Suspended: None

Prediction

Bayern Munich 3-1 RB Leipzig
