Manchester United picked up a comfortable 4-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League earlier tonight.
The Red Devils were beaten in the reverse fixture and they will be delighted to have avenged that defeat here.
Bruno Fernandes produced a sensational performance for the Red Devils to guide his side to a morale-boosting win.
The Portuguese midfielder scored the opening goal of the game on the 7th minute with a sensational strike from the edge of the box and then doubled Manchester United’s advantage on the 19th minute.
He could have easily completed a first-half hat trick but Fernandes handed the ball to Marcus Rashford after Manchester United won a penalty in the 35th minute.
The Manchester United striker converted from the spot to make it 3-0 to the Premier League side.
Istanbul Basaksehir scored a consolation goal for themselves on the 75th minute through Turuc but any hope of a comeback was wiped clean when Daniel James scored the fourth goal of the night for Manchester United deep into injury time.
The win leaves Manchester United on top of Group H and they just need a point from their remaining two group games to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can be pleased with the performance from his players. Istanbul Basaksehir were the underdogs heading into the game and the heavy defeat at Old Trafford is hardly surprising.
It will be interesting to see if they can finish the group stages strongly and secure their place in the Europa League now.
