The former Schalke manager has agreed to become the new head coach of RB Leipzig.

RB Leipzig have confirmed the appointment of Domenico Tedesco as their new manager, days after sacking Jesse Marsch.

Leipzig parted ways with Marsch following a disappointing run in the Bundesliga in recent weeks.

The American gaffer succeeded Julian Nagelsmann last summer but failed to exceed the expectations at Red Bull Arena.

It has been rumoured for the last few days that Tedesco is in pole position to become the new manager of RB Leipzig.

The 36-year-old has penned a new contract with the Saxony-based club until 2023.

Achim Beierlorzer, the interim manager who oversaw Leipzig’s win against Manchester City in the Champions League, is said to have agreed to leave the club.

Tedesco has prior experience in the Bundesliga and his most recent stint in Germany was with Schalke.

He served as Schalke’s manager between 2017 and 2019 and he led them to the second-place finish in Bundesliga in his first season.

The German-Italian gaffer then had a two-year spell with Russian club Spartak Moscow and he helped them end as runners-up in the 2020/21 season.

Tedesco is known for brandishing an attacking style of football, and hence he looks a perfect fit for Leipzig.

With Leipzig currently 11th on the table, Tedesco has a difficult job in his hand to help the club return to the summit.

Leipzig are set to face Borussia Monchengladbach in Bundesliga this Saturday.
