Erling Haaland will cost £171.8 million this summer

Erling Haaland-Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has recently been linked with a move away from the German club.

The 20-year-old Norwegian striker has already established himself as one of the best young attackers in the game. It is hardly a surprise that the top clubs are looking to sign him this summer.

According to reports, the player will cost around £171.8 million. Apparently, Dortmund are not keen on selling the striker this summer, and therefore his suitors will have to pay an outrageous asking price to lure him away from Germany.

However, the striker will be allowed to leave next summer because of an agreement with the German club, and he’s set to cost around €75 million then.

It will be interesting to see if any club is willing to pay over the odds for him the summer instead of waiting for another year and snapping him up for a reasonable fee.

The report further states that Real Madrid could make a move to sign the Norwegian this summer only if they fail to land Kylian Mbappe.

Florentino Perez has a great friendship with Borussia Dortmund chief Hans Joachim Watzke, and he might be able to negotiate a lower asking price for the forward.

The Spanish giants would look to offer players in exchange to bring the asking price down. Another alternative could be signing the player now and structuring future instalments when the club is in a healthier financial state.

It will be interesting to see how the future of Haaland unfolds over the next few weeks.
