England international Trent Alexander Arnold was recently ruled out of the European Championships with a major thigh injury, and the Three Lions have now announced his replacement.

Brighton defender Ben White has been chosen as a replacement for the Liverpool defender.

The 23-year-old has been outstanding for the Seagulls over the past year, and he could prove to be a quality addition to Gareth Southgate’s squad.

The youngster is a centre back, but he can operate in the defensive midfield as well, and his versatility could be very useful for England during this summer’s tournament.

White is unlikely to start regularly given the players ahead of him in the pecking order, but he is a quality squad option to have.

There is no doubt that Alexander Arnold would have made a much more significant impact had he stayed fit.

The Liverpool defender is an exceptional player going forward, and his long passing could have been very useful for England this summer.

That said, Ben White is a reliable defender, and he should be able to step up if needed.

The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the finest young defensive talents in the country right now, and the experience of representing England in a major international tournament will be a priceless experience for the player.

It will be interesting to see if he can learn from this experience and hold down a regular starting berth in the World Cup next year.
