Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham has grabbed the headlines after creating history in his debut.

Dortmund played against Duisburg in the opening round of the DFB Pokal. Bellingham was impressive in his debut, scoring his first goal for the club thereby becoming the club’s youngest ever goalscorer.

Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus also found the scoresheet as Die Borussen won the game 5-0.

Bellingham moved to Signal Iduna Park for a reported fee of 25m euros and Dortmund fought tooth and nail with Europe’s elites for his signature.

The 17-year-old had his breakout season with Birmingham City last term, which eventually caught the attention of many.

Bellingham started in the central midfield against Duisburg, as it has been suggested by Borussia Dortmund manager Lucian Favre. The English teenager played on the wings during his time at Birmingham.

The Dortmund manager also spoke about Bellingham before the game.

Favre said, “During pre-season, I’ve got to know Jude better.”

“I like the way he handles the ball, how he defends it. He gives us a number of tactical possibilities and has a fantastic presence.”

“He can play as a number six or number eight is a good passer and tries to put himself in scoring positions. He has the technical skills and a feel for space. That’s why it’s easy for me to work with such a talent.”

“With someone like him, I don’t look at the date of birth.”
