The Bavarians hammered newly-promoted Bochum in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich secured a thumping 7-0 win against Bochum in the weekend’s Bundesliga fixture.

The defending champions, who were coming off an emphatic 3-0 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League, showed no mercy to the newly promoted Bochum side.

Joshua Kimmich secured a brace while Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Robert Lewandowksi and Eric Choupo Moting also found the scoresheet.

Lewandowski also set a new record in the process as he became the first player in the Bundesliga to score in 13 consecutive home games.

Furthermore, the Polish striker has also found the nets for 19 consecutive games in a row for the Bavarians across all competitions.

Lewandowski’s status as one of the modern-day greats is getting solidified with each passing week, and his rich vein of the form indicates that he is poised for another prolific season.

The 33-year-old bagged the European Golden boot last season, and he is now considered as a top candidate to win the Ballon d’Or.

Lewandowski’s start to the 2021/22 campaign is also exceptional, having bagged 7 goals in 5 Bundesliga games. He started the Champions League campaign on a high note by scoring a match-winning double against Barcelona.

Besides Lewandowski, Sane also stood out today with an impressive showing.

The German winger had been under unfathomable scrutiny due to his inconsistency in the previous games.

However, he came into his own today after racking up a goal and assist, which includes a stunning free-kick.

Bayern’s title defence has gotten off to a flyer, and new manager Julian Nagelsmann is proving to be worthy enough of a successor to Hansi Flick, who led the Bavarians to a historic sextuple last year.
