Dier shares hilarious post after receiving MOTM award vs Chelsea

Tottenham beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup last night to book their place in the Quarter finals of the competition.

Eric Dier was awarded the man of the match for his rock solid display at the back. However, his decision to leave the pitch in the middle of the game for a loo-break sparked a hilarious reaction from the social media.

In a response to those reactions, Dier posted an image of the trophy on Instagram, which had been placed on the toilet and wrapped in loo roll, Dier joked: “The real M.O.M”.

Apparently, the Tottenham star was dehydrated after playing too many games with very little rest.

Jose Mourinho was seen rushing down the tunnel when Dier left the pitch. The Spurs boss confirmed that he was urging Dier to come back as soon as possible as the team were playing with one man short.

“With Eric you can imagine what happened,” Mourinho said. “For him to leave the pitch it was easy to imagine what happened.

“I knew it, I was just pushing him to come back as soon as possible, because no more changes, and one player less is the consequence of something not human that he did, which was to play two matches completely dehydrated, tired, no energy in the muscles.

“Of course he is not playing Thursday because I would definitely kill him.”

“After playing on Sunday and then tonight, it wasn’t easy,” Dier told Sky Sports. “Maybe that was one of the reasons I had to run off the pitch in the second half. It wasn’t easy.

“He wasn’t happy but there was nothing I could do about it really. Nature was calling! There was a chance when I wasn’t on the pitch but thankfully they didn’t score.”
