Ansu Fati on the verge of signing a new contract with Barcelona

Manchester United to target Barcelona winger Ansu Fati for €100m

The Catalan club have reached an agreement in principle with Fati over a new deal.

Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement with Ansu Fati over a new contract.

The La Liga giants have been working on Fati’s new contract after announcing the extension of young midfielder Pedri.

Fears arose among the fans when recent reports stated that Barca were a long way from reaching a new deal with Fati’s agent Nuno Mendes.

According to a new report from Marca, Barca football director Mateu Alemany has managed to strike a deal with the Spaniard’s agent Mendes over a new five-year contract.

The new deal would see the 18-year-old extend his stay at the Nou Camp until 2027 with an improved salary.

Barca manager Ronald Koeman also confirmed the news ahead of the Champions League game against Dynamo Kyiv.

The Dutch gaffer said: “I know they are close to agreeing a new contract with Ansu. It’s big news for Barca because we’re talking about someone that can mark the club’s long-term future.”

Famed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano also reports that the announcement will be soon and Fati’s release clause has been set at €1b.

Fati had been out of action for nearly a year due to a knee injury before making his return against Levante last month.

He scored a quick goal in that game and was also on target against Valencia last Sunday.

Fati has inherited the iconic No.10 from Lionel Messi and henceforth the expectations have also doubled on the Spaniard.

He is in line to make his first start in the Champions League this season against Dynamo Kyiv.
