Atletico 6-1 Granada: Suarez announces himself with a brace in debut

Atletico Madrid-6-1-Granada-Luis Suarez debut

Luis Suarez has scored twice in his Atletico Madrid debut.

Atletico Madrid have hammered Granada 6-1 in La Liga, with debutant Luis Suarez scoring a brace.

The Rojiblancos have started their La Liga campaign with a huge win at Wanda Metropolitano.

Diego Costa scored the opening goal, set up by Angel Correa. The Argentine went on to double the lead before the half time whistle.

Atletico continued their rampage in the second half, with Joao Felix scoring in the 65th minute. The Portuguese ace scored the goal in a typical fashion, benefiting from Costa’s cheeky flick.

The Rojiblancos didn’t stop there as Luis Suarez made an emphatic statement in his debut.

Despite featuring only for the final quarter of the game, Suarez scored a brace while providing the assist for Marcos Llorente’s goal – a start he never could have dreamt of.

Granada, who were victorious in their first game against Alaves, have now been humbled by the Colchoneros.

Besides Suarez, Felix and Correa had a great game as they racked up a goal and an assist apiece.

Simeone’s men haven’t had the best of the season last term, ending up short in the Champions League quarter-final despite beating Liverpool in the previous round.

Now, Atletico have made their statement and would look to change their fortunes this season.

Suarez’s addition looks already promising and the former Barcelona player’s experience could help Atletico thrive in both La Liga and Champions League.
