Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid battle for the signature of Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu

Caglar Soyuncu agent - Only Liverpool are worthy suitor

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are reportedly set to battle for the signature of Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu this summer.

The 25-year-old Turkish international has a year left on contract and has been linked with Champions League finalists Real Madrid.

But according to a report in the Daily Mail, Real Madrid’s city rivals Atletico are the main contenders for his signature.

Diego Simeone’s side have followed the Turkish centre-back’s progress for the past four years since he was at German Bundesliga side Freiburg.

Soyuncu joined Leicester in 2018 for a fee of £19million and has since made 123 appearances for the Foxes. But he has been relegated to bench duties in recent times due to the return of Wesley Fofana.

The Turk who is capped 45 times by his country, has been on the bench for the last five matches under Brendan Rodgers and has not completed 90 minutes since the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham on May 1, fuelling suggestions that he will be allowed to leave the club in the summer.

He has also reportedly attracted the interest of Juventus, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United in recent weeks.

With just a year left on his deal, Leicester are in a disadvantaged position and are not in a strong negotiating position, giving Atletico the edge in this deal.
