Barcelona in talks to sign Chelsea duo Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech

Timo Werner-Chelsea

Barcelona are thought to be keen on signing the Chelsea attacking duo Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.

According to a report from the Spanish publication Sport, the Catalan giants already opened talks with the Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia regarding a January transfer for both players and the Blues were initially open to doing a deal for them.

However, it seems that the Premier League giants have taken a step back because Thomas Tuchel is not keen on weakening his side during the January transfer window.

The Blues are currently involved in a title race and it is no surprise that the German manager wants to keep his squad intact until the end of the season.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez knows that he will need to improve his squad in order to finish the season strongly and he wanted to sign the Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech in order to add more width to his attack.

Barcelona need to add more goals to their side as well and therefore the interest in Werner is understandable.

The German international have not been able to hit top form since his move to the Premier League but he was one of the best strikers across Europe during his time at RB Leipzig.

Both players are thought to be keen on playing more regularly and a move to Barcelona could be ideal for them.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona can convince Chelsea to change their stance regarding the attacking duo in the coming weeks.

The Blues have spent around €100 million on the two players but they have not been able to deliver on the pitch so far. Cashing in on them, if there is a reasonable offer on the table might not be such a bad idea, especially if the Blues can bring in January reinforcements.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have been linked with the Manchester City attacker Ferran Torres as well and it will be interesting to see who they end up signing eventually.
