Jurgen Klopp opens up on to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah’s contract situation

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has recently admitted that he wants to sign a new contract with the club and he urged the hierarchy to resolve the issue surrounding his future at Anfield.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has now revealed the situation involving Salah is completely normal and the contract extension will be sorted out in time.

Klopp said to Guardian: “Extending a contract with a player like Mo is not something where you meet for a cup of tea in the afternoon and find an agreement. That’s completely normal.

“He speaks about it and I can only say a few things because all the rest is not for the public. I’m not sure if he gave the interview in English or if it was translated from Arabic and that is a message issue. A lot of things can happen when someone tries to do that.

“Mo is fine, I am fine. What we all want is clear and things like this need time.”

The Egyptian international has a contract with Liverpool until the summer of 2023 and the 29-year-old will be hoping to sort out his future as soon as possible.

The Liverpool star has been in the form of his life this season and he has managed to score 20 goals and pick up nine assists across all competitions already this season.

Salah has recently set the record for the most goals scored by a Liverpool player in a group stage of a European competition after bagging his seventh goal last night against AC Milan.

There is no doubt that the Egyptian is one of the best players in the world and Liverpool must do everything in their power to hold on to him for as long as possible.

The player has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona as well and Salah admitted that being linked with the Spanish giants is an honour for him.

It is evident that Salah is trying to pressurise Liverpool into accepting his financial demands through these comments and it remains to be seen whether the Reds decide to give in and offer him a lucrative deal.

The forward recently revealed that the financial value of the contract reflects the importance of a player at a club.
