Presidential candidate Rousaud claims he has pre-agreement with Dortmund striker Erling Haaland
Barcelona presidential candidate Emili Rousaud has vowed to bring Erling Haaland to the Nou Camp should he win the election.
Earlier, Rousaud announced that Josep Maria Minguella would be his Sporting vice-president if he becomes the next president of the Blaugrana.
Rousaud also claimed that Minguella has a pre-agreement with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola.
“He was able to bring [Diego] Maradona, [Hristo] Stoichkov, Romario, [Lionel] Messi and, with his son, Ansu Fati,” Rousaud said of Minguella.
“He’s always been there. He was the protagonist in many of the important chapters in the club’s history.”
However, Minguella was discrete about Haaland’s transfer in his response.
Minguella said,
He’s a person with a contract in place [at another club] and we have to be discrete,” Minguella said.
“What we won’t do is filter news through. That’s very good for the newspapers and very bad for the club.
“Each time you let a player’s name slip, for example, it adds another million on [to their price tag]. Discretion is key.”
The Norwegian striker is understood to be on the radar of a host of European heavyweights due to his excellent form. No wonder Barca are after him.
Especially, for a club in a crisis like Barca, Haaland could be a game-changing transfer as they failed to fill the void of Luis Suarez, who left for Atletico Madrid last summer.
Haaland, who is currently out injured, has been Dortmund’s decisive player this season and Barca are also aware that they will face stiff competition from arch-rivals Real Madrid.
