Luka Modric defends Gareth Bale over his torrid time at Real Madrid

Newcastle to offer £53m to Real Madrid for Gareth Bale

The Croatian midfielder has defended Bale for his criticism during his Real Madrid career.

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has spoken in defence of his team-mate Gareth Bale, who recently joined Tottenham on loan.

The Welsh winger has been subjected to a lot of criticism of late at Santiago Bernabeu, which eventually resulted in him being frozen out of the squad.

One of the main talking points about Bale was the lack of rapport with his team-mates and manager and secondly, his indulgence in Golf instead of football. However, Modric has claimed that Bale is a shy guy, and the criticism he has been receiving is unreasonable.

“I have been with Gareth most of my professional life, and he is a spectacular guy,” Modric said. “He is shy, similar to me.

“What is said about him is not fair, they judge him in recent years but what he has done at Madrid is something impressive and he will always be remembered as a player who has done a lot for the club. “

The former Ballon d’Or winner also emphasized that Bale had no dressing room issues at Madrid.

“He has never had any problems in the dressing room; he is a great guy. He spoke Spanish, he joked with us. “

Bale perhaps was instrumental behind Madrid’s relentless run in the Champions League not long ago.

The 31-year-old made his loan move to Spurs last month after growing weary over the lack of playing time. The Welshman will now reunite with Jose Mourinho.
