Real Madrid set for major Gareth Bale headache this summer

Zidane Gareth Bale did not want to play against Man City

Real Madrid could be set for a major headache in the summer if Tottenham do not sign Gareth Bale permanently.

The Premier League side signed the Welsh international on a loan deal with an option to buy but his performances have been quite poor for the London club and Spurs might not want to exercise their option to sign him permanently this summer.

It means that Real Madrid will be lumbered with the 31 year old for another season and they will have to pay his massive wages.

Bale has fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid and he is no longer an option for Zidane. The Spanish club will be desperate to get him off their books but they will be forced to keep him on if they fail to find a suitor at the end of this season.

Bale has not been at his best over the last three years and it seems highly unlikely that he will regain his sharpness and confidence in the coming months.

His career has been plagued with injuries in the recent years and the lack of game time has also affected his match fitness and confidence.

The Welshman was brought back to Tottenham with huge expectations but it seems that he has failed to earn the trust of Jose Mourinho so far.

The Portuguese manager has barely used Bale in the League this season.

Real Madrid are in need of a rebuild this summer and they will be hoping to get the French players out of the club in order to make way for new ones.

Given their significant debt, Real Madrid are likely to be cash strapped and they will not want to spend huge amount of money on wages for a player who is unlikely to contribute to the first team.
