Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Sporting left back Nuno Mendes.
As per Daily star, the player has been recommended to the club by former Old Trafford ace Luis Nani. The former Manchester United player rates Mendes very highly and he thinks that the youngster would be a perfect fit for the Red Devils.
Manchester United have a history of snapping elite Portuguese talents and Mendes could be another addition to that list.
The 17 year old can play as a left sided winger as well. He has the technique and flair to succeed in a more advanced role. He could develop into Manchester United’s version of Gareth Bale with the right coaching and transition.
The report claims that Manchester United wanted to sign him during their negotiations for Bruno Fernandes. However, the deal never materialized back then.
The Red Devils are back in for him now and they are discussing a £10m package to bring the player to Old Trafford this summer. The player is thought to be keen on the move.
The Premier league giants have an excellent youth setup at their disposal and they can help Mendes fulfill his potential.
The young defender is out of contract in 2021 and he should be available for a reasonable price. Sporting won’t want to lose him on a free next summer and they will be forced to consider a sale this summer.
It looks like a deal might very well be on the cards.
