Vinicius Junior’s helps comeback win for Real Madrid against Sevilla, Ancelotti lavish praises on Brazilian

Vinicius Junior-Real Madrid

Real Madrid picked up a 2-1 win against Sevilla in La Liga at Santiago Bernabeu thanks to a last-gasp goal from Vinicius Junior.

The visitors took an early lead through Rafa Mir before it was cancelled out by Karim Benzema around the half-hour mark.

Vini Jr scored a brilliant goal in the 87th minute to seal three points for the home side, who also went four points clear at the top of the league table.

It was a spectacular finish from the young Brazilian as he received the ball on his chest on the left-hand side before making a run and releasing a thunderous strike from outside the box.

Vinicius has set the La Liga on fire this season, racking up a total of 9 goals and 2 assists in 14 games. In addition, he has been pivotal in Madrid’s success in the Champions League group stage, finding the nets 2 times in 5 appearances.

The 21-year-old has already bettered last season’s tally and he is currently second in the Pichichi race behind his teammate Karim Benzema.

Ancelotti hails Vini Jr’s performance

Los Blancos’ gaffer Carlo Ancelotti has lauded Vini Jr’s display, stating that he is in the right direction to become one of the best in the world.

The Italian manager also praised the Brazilian winger’s conversion rate, which was missing in the previous seasons.

Ancelotti said (h/t Managing Madrid): “The goal was extraordinary. He’s a player who has something special in his feet. What has surprised me about him is his goalscoring quality. I knew he was quick and a great dribbler, but I think we’re all surprised at how he can score goals now, which is something he wasn’t doing in the past.

“Today, he couldn’t take players on one-vs-one because there weren’t opportunities. Sometimes that happens, when you can’t do what you want to do. Yet he was still able to make himself the most important player in the game, which is another step towards becoming one of the best in the world.”
