The Manchester City forward has been heavily linked with a move to Nou Camp.

Manchester City winger Ferran Torres has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.

Reports have been circulating over the last few days that the Catalans are eyeing a move for the 21-year-old in January.

Torres, who had a great campaign with Spain in Euro 2020, is said to be open to leaving the Etihad.

Barca manager Xavi has now responded to the speculations regarding Torres, insisting that it’s not the ideal time to talk about new signings.

The new Blaugrana manager said (h/t Goal): It’s not the right time to talk about signings. Not right after the game, which will give us a great boost of morale.”

Barca’s CEO Ferran Reverter and director Mateu Alemany were reportedly in Manchester days ago to discuss a potential move with the Sky Blues.

Torres is currently sidelined due to the foot injury he suffered last month. The 21-year-old moved from Valencia to the Premier League last year, with City paying a fee worth £20m.

Not only Torres, but Barca have also expressed their interest in fellow Man City star Raheem Sterling.

However, the Catalan giants could struggle to sign any new players unless they offload a few of their fringe stars.

Barca have gone off to a great start under Xavi, winning two and drawing one in three games.

Their latest win against Villarreal also marked their first away win in La Liga this season.

The Catalans will face Real Betis this weekend before their crucial encounter against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
