Manchester United picked up a 2-0 win over Everton in the Carabao Cup earlier tonight to secure their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

The Premier League side will be hoping to go all the way tournament and Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer will be delighted with his team’s performance tonight.

Manchester United have now won 13 consecutive away matches against English top-flight opposition.

Everton will be slightly disappointed to have come away with a defeat especially after managing to contain the Manchester United attack for most of the game.

Edinson Cavani scored the opening goal of the game on the 88th minute and Anthony Martial wrapped up the scoring deep into injury time for the Old Trafford giants.

Manchester United started the game on the front foot but they failed to capitalise on their chances early on.

Mason Greenwood won the ball on the edge of the Everton box three minutes into the game and he rolled the ball to Bruno Fernandes who failed to pick out a simple pass to Cavani. The Uruguayan would have been clean through on goal.

Manchester United could have been 3-0 up within the first 17 minutes but the likes of Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek failed to convert their chances.

Robin Olsen produced a series of impressive saves to deny Manchester United the lead in the first half.

The home side grew into the game in the second half and they were marginally the better team.

Everton could have taken the lead on the 70th minute but Dominic Calvert-Lewin failed to bring the ball under control after a defence splitting pass from Seamus Coleman.

Eventually Manchester United got their lead when Edinson Cavani picked up the ball on the edge of the box and cut onto his left foot before finding the far corner.

Everton had the chance to level the scores on the 90th minute but Ben Godfrey headed over the bar after a pinpoint cross from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Manchester United sealed the win with the second goal after a bit of a scramble in the final third.

Bruno Fernandes had hit the bar with his shot and then Marcus Rashford missed A one on one chance only for Anthony Martial to break into the box and roll the ball past Olsen.

Manchester United have joined Brentford, Manchester City and Tottenham in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup and it will be interesting to see who they come up against in the next round of the competition.
